Since we went on a cruise this December, Tim and I decided to keep it simple on the Christmas gifts; we set a budget and went shopping. I think it is so funny that even though we shopped on different days and in different places, 2 out of the 4 gifs we bought for one another were the same. We think too much alike :) water mugs and slippers.
Here is our Christmas tree :) next year we might have a real one.
This year we were invited to one of our professor's home for Christmas dinner; it was nice to feel like part of a family and to fellowship with other believers. Every year the Carson's are kind and thoughtful to open their home for Thanksgiving and Christmas to students whose families are far away. We had a lovely time eating tons of food and participating in British traditions, which I will try my best to explain. First, we sat in our designated seats, and pulled Christmas crackers. These crackers are paper tubes filled with a small toy, a silly hat, and jokes. After the Christmas crackers are cracked, we wear the hats and take turns reading jokes and riddles. For dinner we had salad, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, brussels sprouts, corn bread, a carrot dish whose name I forgot, figgy pudding, and fruit cake.
After dinner, Dr. Carson read the nativity story and we all took turns praying.
Then they served tea, coffee, cheese and more desserts. This was followed by a game of mad gab, more cookies and desserts, and a game of Apples to Apples. After being there for 8+ hours, we decided it was time to go home. It was a great time with great people :) We are thankful for our Trinity family.
No we are awaiting my family's arrival who will be here in 3 more hours. Mom, Hery and Rinicol will be staying with us for the next 10 days. I'm so excited!
